Endura Sierra (North America) Update Version 1.1

Warning:

For North American units only!! For European units, please go to the Endura Sierra Update 1.1 for Europe page.

This update requires the use of a standard microSD card formatted with either a FAT or FAT32 file system. The microSD card must have at least 600MB free to perform this upgrade properly. Best results are seen with a freshly formatted card.

This update is 360MB, and can take a very long time to download on some internet connections. For example, estimated download time for dialup 56K modems is 12-14 hours, DSL and cable modems are 30 minutes to 1 hour, and high-speed cable internet is 4-5 minutes.

If you experience problems with the online installer, please first try to download the stand-alone installer for your operating system listed just below the online installer. If you continue to have issues downloading the update installer, please Contact Customer Support.

Notes:

Mac OS X users may need to reapply the execute permissions to the stand-alone installer after it has finished downloading. To reapply the execute permissions, open a Terminal window, and type the following command (this assumes you downloaded the file to your desktop):
chmod +x desktop/Endura-Sierra_110.command

Prerequisite:

Java must be installed on your computer for the installers to operate. If you do not already have a Java JRE or JDK installed, please visit the Java website.

Guide d'installation

Pre-Installation Instructions
Note: This upgrade will format the internal user accessible memory (Endura partition). It will attempt to retain the contents of your GPX and ROUTES folders, as well as any AT5 files that may have been downloaded from MapSelect.com. However, it is strongly advised that you manually backup the contents of your user accessible memory before starting the upgrade.

To manually backup your user accessible memory:

  1. Remove any microSD card from the Endura unit and connect to a PC via USB cable
  2. Your PC should show a new removable drive named ENDURA.
  3. Open this drive as you would any other folder and copy any (or all) of the contents to another location on your PC.
  4. After the upgrade, you can review the restored contents in the same manner and drag any files that you’d like back into the ENDURA drive.

Installation Instructions

  1. Make sure the microSD card reader is properly connected to your computer (and, if necessary, that the drivers are installed).
Note: If you do not have a microSD card reader, you can use the Endura GPS  unit as a card reader. You will need a standard mini-USB to USB cable (provided with the Safari model) to connect the Endura unit to your PC.
  2. Insert a microSD card (with at least 600MB free) into your PC’s card reader.
If using the Endura unit as a card reader, ensure the microSD is fully inserted into the bottom of the unit while power is off. Connect the Endura to your PC via the USB cable which should then power on the Endura unit.
  3. Click on the "Install This Update From the Web" link below to go to the installation web page.
  4. Wait for the Java web installer to download and run. Follow the Lowrance update installation instructions. If you are not sure about a step, just select the default choice.
  5. When the installer finishes you will be prompted to click Finish to exit. This step will copy the Installer.exe file to the root of the microSD card.
  6. Remove the microSD card from the microSD card reader or if using the Endura unit as a card reader, unplug the Endura unit from the PC and ensure it is powered off.
  7. If not inserted already, place the microSD card containing the software update into the card slot in the bottom of the Endura until it locks in place.
  8. Turn Endura unit on (ether by battery or USB power) and the software update will automatically begin the installation on the device. Follow the prompts as instructed. Once the software update is completed, the screen will read “The upgrade has completed successfully.  You can now remove microSD card and reboot device”.
  9. Remove the microSD card from the unit, and restart the unit.

Please Note:
• The V1.1 update for Out&Back takes no more than 2-3 minutes to complete.
• The V1.1 update for Safari will take less than 5 minutes to complete (the same V1.1 updater file is used for both Safari and Out&Back)
• The V1.1 update for Sierra takes approximately 30 minutes to complete.

Note:
If for some reason you have a problem with both the web installer and the stand-alone installer, or if you wish to load the update file to your Endura unit yourself, use the instructions here.

If your computer experiences problems with the web installer, try using a stand-alone installer. Note: Do not download this installer to your unit - save it to your computer and run the installer to load the necessary files to the unit.Simply choose the appropriate operating system below:
PC Win98/ME/2000/XP/2003/Vista   |   Mac OS X   |   Linux
